A solid family-operated Brazilian industry with German roots, delivering cutting-edge hydraulic turbines, generators, and complete electromechanical solutions across five continents.
Our story began in 1951, when visionary engineer Carlos Emilio Hacker designed and manufactured his first hydraulic turbine — a small "Michel-Banki" cross-flow unit built to power local development.
By the early 1960s, more than a thousand micro-turbines had already been built by Carlos Hacker, who often traveled across challenging terrain on horseback to install and commission machines personally.
In 1974, the family expanded manufacturing operations to Xanxerê, Santa Catarina. Driven by continuous technical innovation, Hacker developed the very first Kaplan turbine manufactured in Brazil with double regulation, cementing a legacy of national engineering milestones.
A timeline of perseverance, technological breakthroughs, and sustained industrial growth.
Carlos Emilio Hacker designs and fabricates his first "Michel-Banki" hydro turbine in Rio Grande do Sul, bringing decentralized mechanical and electrical power to rural communities.
Over 1,000 micro-turbines manufactured and commissioned across southern Brazil, earning widespread recognition for extreme durability and field service resilience.
Hacker establishes its industrial headquarters in Xanxerê, Santa Catarina, expanding heavy machining capabilities and assembling a dedicated team of hydro design engineers.
Pioneered the design and domestic manufacture of Brazil’s first double-regulated tubular Kaplan S-turbines, delivering high efficiencies across variable flow river profiles.
Expansion into high-efficiency Francis units (up to 94% efficiency) and multi-jet Pelton turbines operating at heads up to 3,937 ft (1,200 m) for Small Hydro Plants (SHPs).
With 1,600+ operating units worldwide, Hacker exports to Europe, Latin America, and Africa. Launch of the revolutionary modular REVO turbine for cost-effective distributed hydro generation.
Over 215,000 sq ft (20,000 m²) of dedicated manufacturing infrastructure equipped with advanced CNC portal milling, heavy lathes, dynamic balancing, and quality testing benches.
Full internal fabrication of high-pressure spiral cases, stay rings, and draft tubes using robotic submerged arc welding and non-destructive ultrasonic inspections.
5-axis CNC machining of stainless steel runners (CA6NM), precision dynamic rotor balancing, and automated hydrostatic pressure testing up to 1.5x design pressure.
Advanced hydrodynamic CFD simulation laboratory optimizing runner blade geometry, cavitation resistance, and peak efficiency curves for custom river profiles.
